I'm in Korea now and I'm melting. It's freakin' hot and Isis's flat doesn't have air conditioning. Yeah, I think she's crazy, but she just shrugs and says "Afghanistan."
I got in last night and Isis couldn't meet me at the airport so I found the bus and go to her place all on my own. I know that doesn't sound like a very big feat, especially since I'm the girl who's travelling all over the world on her own, but whenever I've come to Korea before, my family members pick me up and they always act like I can't get to the city on my own, so I felt very capable that I was able to do it. Then Isis got home and we went to go eat Korean food. AHHH....I missed good food!
Today I went to the American Embassy in Seoul to get extra pages added to my passport. YUP, I filled up my passport! How cool am I? And mind you, I only have 3 visas in there, so the rest are stamps. Isis has already filled up her passport and almost filled up her inserts, but that's because in order to get into Afghanistan each time she needed like 500 transit visas. We're such cool people. Although we saw this guy at the embassy who's passport was the size of a small book because he had like 5 inserts. My passport expires 2013, so I still have time to catch up to him.
Isis still has work and stuff, so I went around the center of town for awhile, but then it got so hot I went inside a department store and went shopping. Not to buy, just for A/C.
This is some old water sewer that was converted into an artificial river and all these fountains. There were so many people playing in it. Maj...so villagey.
Seoul City Hall
Deok Su Gung Palace
Little kids and their moms were here and the mom is quizzing the kids "Who is that?" and know-it-all kid says "Sejong Daewang." "What did he invent?" Know-it-all kid again, "Han-geul." You learn a lot from little kids.
In the midst of all these old Korean structures, there's this White House looking building which was put here in the early 1900s so Koreans could impress the foreigner dignitaries who came to visit. I find this wrong...sad...ugly...
